The 'Topping Out' ceremony at Openshaw Health Centre was held on Friday 24th February 2006.
The new £3 million health centre based on Ashton Old Road will bring healthcare in Openshaw into the 21st century.
The centre will consist of 5 GP's and offer a wide range of facilities including antenatal, midwifery, child assessment, community alcohol team, family planning, a range of counseling services, physiotherapy and alternative medicine.
The community will be able to have access to the accommodation for meetings, health clinics and well woman / man classes and for the first time, they will be able to play a significant part in their own healthcare. This is an exciting development for the community and has the opportunity to develop further services and resources, it will ensure the highest standard of medical practice in Openshaw.
This project is funded by MaST LIFT partnership which comprises 10 public sector partners including Primary Care Trusts, Councils, Greater Manchester Ambulance Service and MaST LIFTCo. The centre is being constructed by Laing O'Rourke and is scheduled to open at the end of 2006.
